The Surreal Life
The Surreal Life is a reality show has been aired on VH1 and The WB. A group of celebrities who are out of the spotlight are picked and filmed as they live in a luxurious home in the Hollywood Hills. They will live there for approximately two weeks, and the format of the show is very similar to The Real World. In addition to the group activities being filmed, the conflicts and relationships between the members will be filmed as well. So far, a total of six seasons have aired.
Season One of The Surreal Life
The first season aired in 2003, and the participants were Emmanuel Lewis, Vince Neil, MC Hammer, Gabrielle Carteris, and Brande Roderick. The group engaged in a number of activities during this season, and some of them included a trip to Las Vegas, and a camping trip. Corey Feldman was notable for creating a great deal of drama during this season. In the final episode of the season, he married his girlfriend. Mindy Cohn was originally selected to be on the show, but she declined before they started filming.
Season Two of The Surreal Life
The second season aired in 2004, and it featured Erik Estrada, Ron Jeremy, Vanilla Ice, Cannatella, Tammy Faye Messner, and Traci Bingham. A number of notable moments occured during this season, and some of them include Ron Jeremy's semi-nude party, as well as Tammy Faye offering to sign books among members of the gay community. Gary Coleman also appeared this season in a cameo role. Vanilla Ice did some comedy routines, and the cast also worked at a diner in the area. The group was also involved in the production of a play for children, and even though Danny Bonaduce was set to appear, he canceled before the filming started.
Season Three of The Surreal Life
The third season of the show aired in 2004, and the participants were Jordan Knight, Ryan Starr, Dave Coulier, Charo, and Flavor Flav. As the show progressed, Flav and Brigitte developed a relationship, and another popular moment was Date Night, where the group had to work together to produce a song that was original. This was the first season in which the cast members introduced themselves during the opening credits. Flavor also ran over the puppy for the Surreal Life, and it was revealed he did not have a license.
Season Four of The Surreal Life
The fourth season began in 2005, and its cast members were Jane Wiedlin, Joanie Laurer, Da Brat, Adrianne Curry, Verne Troyer, and Marcus Schenkenberg. Like the previous season, a relationship developed between Christopher Knight and Adrianne Curry. Some of the highlights during this season include the tension between Jane Wiedlin and Da Brat, which started due to statements Da Brat made during the Dirty Laundry segment. The difficult relationship between Laurer and Sean Waltman were also shown.
Season Five of The Surreal Life
A number of changes were made in the fifth season of the show. The house was given the design of a carnival, and the cast members were given circus themes during the opening segment. Caprice Bourret was given the "See Britain's Most Beautiful Woman, Sandy "Pepa" Denton was given the "Meet the Mystical Musician, and Jose Canseco was given "Face the Fantastic Strongman." The other cast members were Omarosa Manigault, Jane Dickinson, Bronson Pinchot, and Carey Hart. A dog with three legs named Lucky also appeared throughout this season. There were conflicts between Omarosa and Jane, and Jane left during the final dinner. This season marked the first time a DVD release was made.
Season Six of The Surreal Life
The cast members for season six include Steve Harwell, Sherman Hemsley, Alexis Arquette, C.C. DeVille, Tawny Kitaen, Maven Huffman, and Andrea Lowell. Florence Henderson was also present, and she acted as the house therapist. This season featured a music video by the cast members, and they also broadcast a news program. The cast members also did their own talk shows, and they had a battle between the bands.
